Dr Kim Pang was born in Malaysia, in a town called Batu Pahat (literally ‘chiselled stone’). He did his A levels in the UK, then went on to study Dentistry at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne. Upon qualifying with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery he returned to Malaysia to work in general dental service. However after a few years in general practice, he realised he was very keen on orthodontics and wanted to pursue this passion further. He returned to the UK to study at the Eastman Dental Institute and Hospital in London, specialising in orthodontics. He also did his Master of Science in Orthodontics at the University of London, and worked in general practice and specialist orthodontic practice in London. He also received a Diploma in Orthodontics from the Royal College of Surgeons of England, and a Membership in Orthodontics from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. A Membership in Dento-Facial Orthopaedics from the Royal College of Surgeons and Physicians of Glasgow followed soon after.

Dr Pang then worked for a few years in Malaysia, firstly at the University of Malaya as an Orthodontic lecturer and consultant, then in private practice. A chance conversation with an Australian orthodontist at a dental conference led him to sunny Perth. After travelling and working at different places, Perth is now home, and he is happily working at his own practice in Hillarys and Currambine. He also supervises orthodontic postgraduate students at the Oral Health Centre Western Australia (University of Western Australia).
