Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon

Dr Frank Chang is an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon with degrees in both medicine and dentistry. He completed Bachelor of Dental Surgery at Otago University in 2003 and after working one year as a Dental House Surgeon at Middlemore Hospital in Auckland New Zealand, and two years as a Senior Dental officer for Hunter New England Area Health Services in New South Wales, he went on to complete degrees in Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery at University of Auckland in 2009. After his medical training, he spent 2 years working as a House Surgeon in Middlemore and Auckland hospital.

Frank moved to Perth to complete his specialist training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and was awarded the specialist qualification of FRACDS(OMS) fellowship through Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons. He gained extensive experiences in the treatment of a wide range of Oral and Maxillofacial conditions. He had trained and worked across WA Health including Royal Perth Hospital, Fiona Stanley Hospital, Princess Margaret Hospital and Fremantle hospital.

After completing his surgical training, Frank then went to United Kingdom for further sub-specialty post fellowship training in Temporomandibular Joint surgery with internationally renowned TMJ surgeon at Queens Medical Centre in Nottingham. Frank also received specialised training in adult and paediatric deformity surgery and head and neck oncology surgery while he was in the UK.

Dr Frank Chang has special interest in the surgical management of temporomandibular joint pathology and disorders, facial trauma, orthognathic surgery for dento-facial deformities and obstructive sleep apnoea and also practices full scopes of practice in Oral and Maxillofacial surgery including dentoalveolar surgery, implantology and oral pathology.

Frank works in private practice in South Perth. He also enjoys teaching and is involved in the teaching and training of Maxillofacial surgery trainees through his appointments at public teaching hospitals.

Frank operates at South Perth Hospital, The Park private, St John of God Mt Lawley, and South Bank day surgery. Frank also speaks Mandarin which helps with the current multicultural society.
